Hi Single female coming over to work in istanbul a while, just want to check out how the after work scene is? Are there any cool bars (jazz, rock, blue etc) to go to or clubs that are ok.
After what seems to be tough working days there, you must have a favourite watering hole to recomend?????

Also for the women out there, whats the dating scene like???? lol.
Pm me if you prefer.

Cheers

Don't worry about the social scene in Istanbul. It's why I've been here for so long. favourite watering holes? not enough evenings in a week to go to them all...... but I try.

That I'm desperately trying to piece together my weekend just gone is testament to the night life in the 'bul. Loads of rock/jazz bars, although summers here and most drinking is done on the street at the moment.

Dating wise, if you like Turkish guys, and you are foreign, just stand around and wait and you should have a date in about 3-4 minutes.

HA HA, he's a law unto himself that boy, there's nothing I can do about it.

(I didn't think he'd made to Nayah on Saturday! And I don't remember seeing you there. I met your mum and dad on Friday though, right?)

Aye, he is a law unto self. I was actually quite surprised when he chomped down on my hand and didn't let go even after I howled in pain and expressed my doubt that the wasn't in fact loving me as he'd declared before sinking canines into my knuckle. My 5-minute Turkish date was very surprised.

Yep, you met my ma 'n pa. Ma thought you were a hoot and that your musical compositions were intriguing and catchy. I think we did a 2 part harmony of the Eeeeeeeeeee one.

PS Baba, I was very proud of myself for hauling my broken carcass up the flights of stairs at Nayah. Hooray for cabin-fever inspired motivation! For those worried about the social life here, consider it a good sign when a broken shell of a gal feels the motivation to go out in spite of everything. It's that good!

New Nayah is certainly a bit of a climb, but when I got to the top I basically bumped into EVERYONE I'd met over the past four years or something. But I think it's witchcraft on your part.

If you talk to Yaramaz about people you have seen in months, they suddenly appear right behind you.

Yeah...Istanbul, GREAT nightlife.

So you got kicked out then? It's much easier to fall down the stairs. although, at some point in my life I think I have defied gravity and fallen upstairs.

Eyeliner Guy!

*gasp! He's back!*

dmb, I wasn't kicked out of anywhere-- actually I can't be kicked out of Nayah because it's owned by you know who's Common Law Partner and we do brunch together on Sundays so it gives me diplomatic immunity. The carcass hauling was my own physical limitation due to the maganda Vodafone drivers getting me into a 5 car pile up on the highway a few weeks ago.
