|
|
I've got some vacation time and Ive decided to drive my VW van from Tijuana to Cabo San Lucas via highway 1.
I figure about a week down and back. That way I'm only on the road for about 4-5 hours a day averaging about 250 miles.
Is a permit for the vehicle necessary for driving in Baja?
Anyone else out there made the trip before? Any advice you could offer is appreciated! |

Nevermind guys...did a search on the forum and found a link to travel in Baja: bajabound.com for info on bringing a vehicle into the area.
Still open to any other first hand experiences or tips though. |

it is next to impossible to cover anywhere near 250 miles in 4 to 5 hours anywhere in mexico except for on the toll highways. the average with all the stops and topes is closer to 30 miles an hour, if that.
i did the same trip you're contemplating and it was a beautiful experience. |

Delacosta, thanks... I hadn't even thought about it, but seeing that 30 miles an hour is average on highway 1, I guess it will be more like 8-9 hours of driving to cover 250 miles a day!
Glad to hear you had an enjoyable experience. |
