Could members write about the benefits that are offered by the various colleges and Universities in Abu Dhabi so that I can compile them into one document and then put this on to the forum so that an easy comparison can be made rather than trying to search through endless posts.

Benefits would be:
Housing allowances Single, Couple, Couple with kids
Education Allowance Per child or to maximum of
Salary starting points for newly arrived and increments
Utility bills
Health insurance
Other important benefits

By doing this it is then a lot easier to compare benefits and to change the information if colleges up the limits.

I can tell you what the Petroleum Institute paid when I left in 2004:
Salary Dh 15,000/mo; at that time no talk of increments
School allowance 25,000
Housing allowance for family of 3, 90,000
Furniture allowance, 48,000 up front
Utilities paid (except phone)
Company clinic provided as well as government hospitals
7 weeks summer vacation, Ramadan and Hajj one week each, two-week semester break

HCT will offer starting salary averaging probably about 12,500 would be my assessment from what others have said
Housing allowance in ABU DHABI is probably close to 90,000 now but I am speculating; current HCT-ers will know better
Furniture allowance probably still 30,000
Utilities NOT paid generally speaking.
Vacations--similar

Hope this helps as a basic starter.

HCT
In Abu Dhabi, rent for family is Dh85000.
No utilities.
Health insurance for employee and family.
Furniture allowance is Dh 30000, one off.
Education: up to 80000 per family, after that HCT will pay 50%
Flights [cash] for employee, spouse and up to 3 children

I'm pretty sure the PI stopped giving utilities a couple of years ago. Housing for a family is more than HCT, maybe 110000??
Education fees less than HCT, also not quite sure how much.
PI used to get subsidised membership of a health club, think this has also gone.

this is what the ECAE offered my wife. Remember ECAE is located in abu dhabi.

Salary (range from $44k US per year to $48K, and Ph.D up to $52k)

Housing Allowance 120,000 per annum

Furniture Allowance 30,000

Transportation Allowance 1200 per month

Medical Insurance Family

Education Allowance 60,000 (20,000/child Max. 3 children)

Vacation 40 working days per year

Ticket Economy return ticket to USA

that is the ECAE package for a family.

The school fees paid to employees of HCT and ECAE is worth comparing - if you have 3 children at senior school at either ACS or BSAK, school fees will be around Dh 130,000. As I said, HCT will pay 50% of the Dh50,000 excess in that scenario. If ECAE will only pay dh60,000 total, then that's a lot to pay out of your own pocket.
Life is much cheaper without kids!!!
