I have heard that nova is the bottom of the barrel, so... I was wondering. If you are not good enough to get hired by nova, are the other conversational schools out of the question? I just got a letter (snail mail) that told me I did not get offered a job. So I just want to know if nova doesn't hire me, will the other schools laugh in my face? Just to add something, I felt I was the best person there for the interview (smiled a lot, knew lots about japan, knew lots about nova, was an outgoing person, and I'm fresh out of college), so what could I have done wrong? I wonder did I mess up on the grammer or essay part... |

It could be any number of things. Apply to other places by all means, but don't tell them NOVA rejected you. |

NOVA is one of the Big Four eikaiwa in Japan. It is actually the largest chain school here. "Bottom of the barrel" is what you may have heard in reference to only the Big Four. It is certainly not the worst of all of the thousands of eikaiwa here.
Despite what people say about needing only a pulse or the ability to fog a mirror in order to get a job at NOVA, it does have its requirements, and many applicants fail. Does this mean such applicants are also at the bottom of the barrel? No, not necessarily, especially since some NOVA teachers have been reported to fit that category.
Keep trying to improve your interview tactics. |

It may have simply been that they weren't hiring. Even if you had a PhD in TESL, 10 years experience etc, if they're not hiring, they're not hiring. They do a bit intake in April so you just missed the boat. By all means reapply in a few months if you want, you may get it. |

don't read too much into it. there's no rationale to some decisions made in the world (look at every decision gw bush has made.)
obviously don't say you didn't get the nova job, but don't take it personally. i missed out on JET even though I've never been qualified for a job better. |
