Japan is way more competitive than Taiwan.

In Taiwan anyone with just a Uni. degree and dubious TEFL certificate (often earned in one week or online - scams mostly) can get work.

Japan is much more picky, and really probe much more into a person's background before issuing a work visa, which can be used for any job in Japan, you do not lose your status if you lose or leave your job in Japan, you can use the same visa in Japan to look and secure another job.
