I've heard from a normally reliable source that the Kuwaitis are considering the introduction of a system like the ones that already exist in some Gulf countries which permit expats (non-muslim) to buy alcoholic beverages in limited quantities for personal consumption.
Were it true (which I doubt) what effect might it have on salaries in Kuwait? Not only would it make Kuwait a more attractive place to go to and, I imagine drive salaries down even further, but think how much of your salary you might blow in the State-run liquor stores. |

I think Kuwaitis "consider" a lot of thngs. Whether or not it is actually implimented is a totally different scenario. I can't see alcohol being allowed anytime soon. They having too much fun taking mine off of me at the airport! |

My favorite alcohol story is a mixed Kuwaiti-Arab-Westerner gathering in Ramadan, where one of the Kuwaitis got through two bottles of whiskey he had under the table, and let everyone know.
My English friend, not wishing to be ill-mannered, and quite liking Black Label anyway, accepted his offer of a couple of tots.
He was then soundly told off by another Kuwaiti for being culturally insensitive by drinking alcohol in Ramadan! |

I heard a good one a while back.
A Kuwaiti who has lived most of his adult life in Scotland was in Kuwait last year during a Scottish celebration. He showed up, decked out in a kilt and actually won the bag pipe playing contest. First prize was a bottle of single malt, which he gladly accepted. On the way home, with the bottle in the front seat, he gets pulled over by the police. They were ready to let him go for the bottle since it wasn't opened and after all, he was Kuwaiti. But when they got him out of the car, they saw he was wearing a kilt, which they mistook for a dress, and they arrested him for being a cross-dresser! |

Maybe he just told the cops that it was a traditional Scottish dishdasha of the McOtaibi clan. In any case, they walk around in dresses all the time, don't they? |

BTW, there are some tribes in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, the men wear a traditional Arabian kilt, of course it looks like Scottish one, the only difference is that with the Scottish kilt, the men does not wear anything under it!
Arabian kilt in some of the Arab tribes in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

Do you mean 'tant pis pour vous?' Good to know that you're 'just joking'. Is your wife with you in KSA Abba? |

From this joke:
Three Scotswomen are walking home at night (they are neighbors) and find a Scotsman passed out partially under a wagon. His upper body is under the wagon and they can't see who he is; however, they would like to help him get home.
The first woman looks under his kilt and says, "It's not my husband".
The second woman looks under his kilt and says, It's not my husband".
The third woman looks under his kilt and says, "Why he's not even from our village!"
The late great comedian Spike Milligan was one man who tried to shed some light on this remote dark area when he said:
"Is there anything worn under the kilt? No, it's all in perfect working order"
Dmb, I bring you the naked evidence, the shocking truth, and let you see for yourself with my exclusive picture below:
