Does anybody work in a school which has applied to become an eco-school? My school director is very interested in the programme and asked me to look into it. Found the website but wanted to know if anybody has experience working in a school that has been given the eco green flag.
Any information will be helpful. Thanks

ECO SCHOOL!!!?

Is your school emitting poisonous gases or producing any harmful waste (I don't mean the kids!) and then emptying it into Buyuk Cekmece Lake and degrading the environment? If the answer is 'no', then you do not need a flag.

Only companies like Proctor and Gamble etc. which degrade the environment should be interested in these types of logos.

By the way, where are they selling Eco Green Flags? Who is selling them? How much does one cost (in $US)?

The programme is being run by the EU to encourage schools to recycle their paper, plastic and teaches the children about the importance of saving water and energy.
Sorry you don't get the flag for free you have to follow a programme. I think it is a good idea as Turkey is way behind many countries and they don't recycle enough.

I take your point about the big companies!

I take the point you make about the need to educate people about re-cycling but its wrong to generalise that Turkey is lagging behind on this issue .I notice that there are groups of people who make a living by collecting the reuseable stuff thrown out directly from our rubbish bins . There is a bigger need for the conservation of water though ,they just seem to waste so much of it every day without thinking of the long term consequences .
On a more general issue the amount of waste generally you see in the richer countries begs belief . In the U.K alone we throw away millions of tons of food ,when so many people in the world are starving .
