Hi all,

I'm new here. I am considering moving to D.F. at the end of this year and I am trying to figure out some practicalities.

Is it possible to get a short term lease on an apartment (as in 3 or 4 months) while I get my bearings and find a longer term place? Or is 12 months the minimum I will find in D.F.

Also, will it be impossible to get an apartment without a fiador? This could be especially problematic.

I know there is no "one size fits all" answer to these questions, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

There are options for short-term... I remember Guy telling me about a place..... you have to ask him directly tho... he's the guy with the shockingly white avatar Laughing

I managed to get my place without a fiador as have any number of other foreigners. Just gotta ask around...

Like your nick, BTW... Very Happy I always appreciate folks with a sense of humor.

Thanks thelmadatter, it's good to know that I will have some short term options while I get settled. I guess I should work some more on my Spanish so that I will be able to negotiate when the time comes . . .

In Monterrey and Guadalajara, I have found that if you are willing to make a double deposit, many landlords and landladies will forget about your not having a fiador.
