Any thoughts?

The best loot is in the Middle East,, in the oil Kingdoms.
Better look into the conditions, it is not paradise. It may be taxfree, but when you get home, the taxman will be calling.

For Saudi Arabia yoy need an MA to get in and it is not easy to get out either

Have you seen the "where is the best money" thread in the general forum? I haven't read it too thoroughly, but I think it discusses the Middle East and the better-paying Asian countries.

Look here.

And remember few people get rich of off TEFLing, even in the "good" countries.

Thanks, Wolf! I wanted to make a neat-o link, but just as I completed the copy the website/paste it in text action, I began to doubt my technological know-how.

1. I went to the thread.

2. I took the url from the top bar by doing a copy/paste.

3. I wrote the message.

4. I typed: [url=

5. I pasted the url.

6. I typed: ]

7. I wrote "look here."

8. I typed: [/url]

Note: I'm sounding so simple because I don't want the program to think I'm entering another url, so I wrote it piece by piece.

You do not necessarily require an MA for Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States, but with one it is easier to get a reasonable job.

Tax liability depends on residence. For UK citizens if you are away from the UK for one tax year that should be okay. Check with the Inland Revenue for information.

mugglee,
I'm sorry, but that still sounds a little vague. "Teaching credential" can vary from country to country. Could you be a little more specific? Also, do you have a degree?

Korea can be lucrative. I saved 1200 Cnd a month without suffering; though I didn't do the annual pilgrimage to Thailand nor did I shop beyond necessities, and my biggest expense was books.

Do you have a degree? Do you have a TEFL/TESL Certificate?

South Korea hands down for cash saving potential, but you need a degree to get a gig there.

Korea is peanuts to Hong Kong if you are certified to work in your own country and have some experience...the gov NET scheme pays anywhere between 30-60K a month (that is including a living allowance)....you will save min 2K canadian a month at the lowest pay level and move up from there...a side job...though illegal can increase this greatly...
