Does anyone know much about Culturlingua Zamora. I've applied there and have a phone interview but don't know if they are reputable. Any info, good or bad would be helpful. Thanks!

In terms of reputable, I'd say I've heard of them, met two of their former teachers and would consider them reputable (meaning that they are long established and will meet their side of the contract). However they believe that teaching with them is a "cultural experience" not a career or even a job so their pay level reflects that. You give them your time teaching their students and they give you a place to stay and a stipened and a chance to experience living in Mexico rather than being a tourist. If that is what you are looking for, it's great. If you need to make money and consider yourself a professional EFL teacher you probably will not be happy there.

Hey!
I agree with you Melee. Pay is very low although I know that the Michoacan area is beautiful. It may not compensate if you're forced to struggle or live meagerly. But if you want your foot in the door and just want to get down in Mexico, you can always consider it.
Good luck! |

Have you checked the job information journal? There are some posts regarding Culturlingua-Zamora Michoacan, ranging from a mild warning to very negative. I'd keep looking before accepting the offer. |

Michoacan is a very beautiful state, but Zamora is nothing special. I agree with the previous postings - the pay is lousy. You will be able to survive (eat well, go to an occasional movie, a few drinks in a bar per month) but don't expect to do any substantial travelling. 4000.00 pesos does not go very far.
I know all of this first hand as I have worked for the other Culturlingua whose owner is the founder of the Zamora school. technically they are no longer affiliated but they are still basically the same operation - no matter what they tell you. |

Hi everyone,
I'll be in Mexico from Next Friday, so I'm needing a few contacts for any possible work. Does anyone have an e-mail address for Culturlingua, or indeed any other schools or organisations that may be hiring.
Cheers
