I am a newbie recent University grad who just arrived in Shanghai....
I LIKE CHINA!!! Kinda rare huh? I find this place absolutely interesting. My apartment is quite nice and although my manager does not have the business sense to save her life, I have found a unique way to go about solving the problem.........
Keep your calm and reason with them. I insisted on a new contract due to them wanting me to travel. I also traveled once to prove my worth and they were happy with my performance.
Someone on here once mentioned that your contract signing only indicates the beginning of your negotitation. This is the truth. Don't be a pushover but do be reasonable. At this point, supply of jobs is higher then supply of teachers.
As for the air here...... yes it smells bad. I find that is why smoking can be good for you (you will still get cancer living here!).
