Visa Runners, please advise
I'm in Bangkok and need to renew my visa really soon.
I called an agent about visa running over to Cambodia
and they said that I needed, along with 2,800 baht
and a photo, to have a Return ticket in order for them to allow me back into Thailand.
Now, can this be true? Surely there are tons of people crossing the border every day without return tickets. D'you think said agent is just trying to scare me into buying a return ticket from him?
or could it be my dubious South African nationality?

As of two days ago, they were not needing it at the Thai-Malay border. But with all things, they change constantly in Thailand. |

I think you may need one now. About a month ago, I got away with just telling them I had one, but a teacher today needed to make a visa trip and they also told him he needed a departure ticket by air. Not train, bus or boat, but through the airlines. |

It's such a joke. Nobody has anything to worry about.I was with a group of people and nobody had a valid ticket. Most had printed them up (eticket) in a word processor. One guy simply had the contract from his school. The Thais couldn't read a lick of English and looked at it and let us all pass. 2800 baht? Hmm my whole trip cost only 1900. |
