I was at the 1000 islands on the weekend, and when I turned on the tv for about 5mins.. there was a report about an American EF teacher found dead in his Kost room in Padang...

did anyone else see this story on TV? it was about 11am on Saturday.

The report said that he complained of feeling unwell earlier in the day, and then because no one had seen him for a while, he was found dead in his room. They did report of suspicious looking injury to the back of his head as well. So dont know what really happened. But this is all they said in the report on one of those crime shows

And that deserves a smiley at the end? Very tasteful.

Yeah, the use of the smiley emoticon was a little odd.

I know, I know. I felt that it couldn't possibly be intentional. It was just weird to see.

There is a particularly grisly photo of it on the Padang Ekspres website. Suggests the guy was 55yo US citizen fairly recently employed by EF. He was a US Army veteran. His body was found in the EF teachers' house in Padang, which judging by the photo is a fairly austere place to live.

Can't find it there. I'm not particularly interested in a grisly photo, but would like to know what happened and who he was. Can you put up a link? Thanks.

This is the story I found... in 2mins... so I dont know why anyone cant find anything Smile

Sabtu,12 Mei 2007
Padang, Singgalang
Clyde Woody, 55 warga negara asing (WNA) asal San Antonio, Texas, Amerika Serikat, Jumat (11/5) sekitar pukul 08.00 WIB ditemukan jadi mayat.

Quick translation .. Smile

Clyde Woody, 55 was found dead on friday in his Kost room in Padang by the EF office boy. Who said earlier in the night, the guy was still to be heard snoring...

He was a long time sufferer of Hepatitis... and apparently had lost his backpack at Singapore airport which contained his medication.

He had contacted his brother back in Texas to send some more medication but it never arrived...and he had also never been to a check up to a doctor in Padang.

His body was taken to the nearest hospital for an autopsy then will be flown back to the USA.

Police who checked the crime scene said that no foul play looked to be involved... Smile

This is an old story (look at the date). I think if you search this site you'll find more information. He had Hepatitis, forgot to bring his meds and never got them in time as I recall.
