Hi,

Does anyone have info or leads on summer camp positions? My job starts August 6th but I would really like to be in the country by end/mid of June. Thanks so much Smile

Avoid summer camps like the plague. You would be better flipping burgers back home!!!

funteach77, You will need to be in the country the 183 days to get the lower income tax rate so being here early might be worth a little hassle.

There is one camp that advertises - ALV. Don't know anything about it.

If you don't mind working illegally you could probably work during the summer at a school in the city where you'll be living, do a visa run in 59 days and come back to start your job. A lot of schools see an increase in students and a decrease in teachers during the summer. Tell the school you have an ARC somewhere else and want to pick up a few hours with them.

Now, you'll be told that this is NOT legal, and it isn't, but people do it and get away with an a regular basis.

One of the big problems with this plan is that most schools will do a direct deposit of your pay. But you can't open a bank account without an ARC, which puts you in the position of supporting yourself for the two months or finding a school that will pay you cash.

Good luck,
Cat
