Thought I would make a seperate post of this.
I'm using Pimsleur German to learn the basics of the language. Has anyone used this before? |

I have!
Ich habe Lessons 1-90 abgeschlossen und es ist sehr gut.
Its a great way to learn "the basics" of conversational German, but one thing you MUST do is do some written exercises too. I kept thinking in my head how the words would be spelt in English, and of course the spelling is very different in German.

Good that you enjoyed it too. I'm just on lesson 12, so i'm still in the early stages. After all 90 lessons, would you say you are at upper-elemenary level? |

I'm somewhere in elementary thats for sure, but I can sort of have a simple conversation.
The problem is now after a few weeks not doing the lessons everyday, I am already forgetting.
If you can find a human being to practice what you learn regularly that would be great. One of my buddies speaks basic german so we converse all the time for fun. |

I think that once i've finished lesson 30 i'll try and talk to someone in German. The local Goethe Institute is near my house so I should head down there. What lesson number are you on now? |

I live in Japan so there's no much chance to practice but I should start as soon as possible. The only German speaker I know is one girl from Austria so I should get in touch with her. |

Hi Japanman,
I'm a native German speaker living in Japan, but not close to Kyoto. I could correct your writing - no probs (and free of charge)!. I don't have many opportunities to talk in German so this would keep me on my toes with my native language.
Anyway, if there is any need for help feel free to pm.! |

I'm using the audiofy book chips. I don't know why I selected them considering it's very difficult to transfer files to an MP3 player unless you have an ipod (damn you mac!) However, I really like the series and think it's very helpful. I'd also recommend the Instant Immersion German CD Rom. It gives you some decent written work. |
