If English Time tries to force Interlang to use its notoriously awful books it will definitely lose tons of students and teachers will quit just as they have at other English Time branches. Yes, I know that to all schools teachers are irrelevant. Disposable and easily replacable bits of dirt on the ground. But with its pay and accomodation situation, İnterlang(sorry, English Time) has problems recruiting and keeping teachers so it cannot afford to lose any more. DO NOT PUT YOUR BOOKS İN THE SCHOOL! Management at English Time take note. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! Molly Farquarson, are you reading this?

As I was told, the books will be phased in gradually and I don't know of any groups using the ET books yet. The branch manager where I worked (note use of past tense) said they would wait for the second edition. |

the interlang students are finishing their contracts with that system and brand new students are starting with the ET system. however, at Taksim 2 we have a couple of interlang classes using the new books. the teachers are excited about using them, actually. i think they are an improvement on cutting edge, which i find very frustrating to use. |

Sorry, Molly. Having had a good look at the ET books, I have to say they are far below Cutting Edge and I am very glad that I will never use them.
I can't imagine the chorus of "off ya" that comes with using those books. Teachers must have to work very hard to supplement them. I know of Interlang teachers who have quit because of the books. They said, they couldn't, with a clear conscience, use them. Even teachers who are staying, when there is no management in the room, really spit
at the books and say it's educationally irresponsible to use them. |

But at least the ET books aren't pirated, like Cutting Edge was, with all the pages falling out. Man, that was embarrassing. How could Interlang management live with themselves, having stolen so many books over the years...
What's the phone number for Longman Turkey? I want to tell them about all those pirated books.........Longman really lost a FORTUNE there. I am ashamed of myself that I didn't say something earlier. |

well, pretty much anything's better than Cutting Edge (better described as 'Cutting Corners'). Apart from Matters. I can't believe you've been using them; a deeply outmoded form of textbok, whose New Cambridge English Course (v.v. 80's textbok to all you young 'uns) ancestry can clearly be seen glimmering through, like bone through rotting flesh. |

Are there any advantages to using the new books? Aside from "they make great kindling in the coalstove" or "We ran out of tp in the toilet" ? I'm a bit curious about this. Since Interlang has now become English Time, how many teachers have gone? Rumor has it that since a new "Special Head Teacher" came, a great exodus of teachers has started. |

I've spoken to some Taksim 1 and Kad teachers who have been using the books for a few months. They acutally hate them.
The Taks 2 teachers took a look at the books and are very wary of them. Nobody thinks they can actually teach with those books.
Nobody in management is really listening to their input regarding flaws in the books (and I don't mean typos).
I am curious are there any ET teachers that actually like these books??
