Would it be a good idea to bring a mosquito net to live in Sharjah and what is it like going through customs in Dubai? Do they rip everything apart or just a cursory look through things. |

You can buy a mosquito net in Sharjah. It would be useful as I found at certain times of year anywhere in the emirates, the pesky critters could keep me awake for hours.
Customs is usually a formality, unless you have bottles of pills, or anything else "suspicious", notably pornography - which will probably get you put on the next plane home. I have brought in box sets of DVDs, etc. no problem - they might take a glance but that was it. |

Really helen1? I never had a place without decent window screens in the Gulf and while there were namooz outside waiting to get me, I rarely/never had a problem with them inside the house. Perhaps that is because I didn't have kids opening and closing the doors too much.
