If you're on an off-season training group, sometimes the contracts get rounded to whenever the nearest big group's finishing date is - you might end up with 11 or 10 month contract, but around 98% of people get a 12 month contract. |

In order to qualify for a work permit the contract needs to be for at least 12 months. Sometimes schools will offer you shorter term employment but to my knowledge they still submit 12 month employment contracts to the government in order to meet the requirements there.
Longer term contracts are possible but the school would probably want to be sure that you are suitable before offering you a longer term contract. |

Hi,
Both Lou_La and Clark are correct about the initial contract - 1 year for documents purposes but also aligned with the regular seasonal intakes that Hess has.
Also, for renewal contracts, Hess allows you to renew for any period you like (3m, 6m, 9m, 1 year, more than a year). Most renewing teachers will renew for a full year as there is a renewal bonus for doing so, although some choose to renew until the August cycle dates (this being the end of the Kindergarten semester), as many like to take their students through to year-end before moving on. |
