That was very boring. Why did I sit through it? Because I'm an idiot. |

He reminded me of a British lad in Korea who spent 5 years there in a narcotic daze. This video should be used as a warning in CELTA classes. |

I only watched 10 seconds. I wonder if he has the same effect in class?
I occasionally post here late, tired and/or tipsy and sometimes regret it. A video is slightly less anonymous, so did he think at all before he posted? |

I agree that some parts of this could have been done differently for the better, but I do think that many of the points he makes are pretty relevant.
Teachers do complain about students regularly, but I think he gives some decent insight into the reasons for some problems.
There are a lot of great things about efl, and plenty of students who do learn and are nice to work with, but the fact is, in my experience anyway, lack of time is an impediment to learning for many students, and so is the reluctance to do things that are hard. I think if there were solutions to these things that you could include in a youtube video, they wouldn't be problems to begin with.
I'll admit that I saw one of these videos elsewhere first, and after reading the comments here, I look at them a bit differently, maybe realizing that the format is not really ideal. But I don't think his message is totally off base. |

I agree with coffeedrinker that he brought up some relevant points (although he does spout his fair share of bawlshite )but that guy has nearly made me quit my job . If I ever go on like that I deserve to be publicly shot . |

I think we can agree that he came up with one or two universial truths .the kids we teach are the same all over the world wether its Spain Turkey or the far east . Adults tend to be better motivated as usually they pay and or their firms offer pay increases as an incentive to learning another language .
I did'nt see it as a rant ,he was just giving his observations or experience I don't know if that format was the ideal one but I don't think that this forum would be of much use either . Too many people are hung up on things like typos and grammar mistakes rather than looking past that and offering practial help and advice .
More than likely he used to post here and got f.u.c.ked off with the bs that passes for help here . |

Makes some decent points, not a great video but there's no need to belittle the guy. Lets see your efforts and compare |

Oh, I dunno, slaqdog: observing this guy in front of a camera is akin to watching paint dry. I sure hope he's a lot more dynamic and interesting in the classroom, or his poor students must be dying of boredom! |
