|
|
Hi,
I found a posting in the Jobs section for Sesame Street, but can't seem to find a site for their school. Does anybody know what it is? A Google search brings up their alumni registry frequently?
About Kid's Castle, is the same as Kid (no apostrophe s) Castle with an affiliate in the UK? If not, does anybody know the website for Kid's Castle?
Thanks. |

I dont know the exact answer to your question but please find the following.
I doubt that the link you found to the alumni relates to the Sesame Street schools here in Taiwan. I am pretty sure that none of the privately run cram schools such as Sesame Street have anything as official as alumni. In the same light I can pretty sure that local company Kid's Castle has no relationship to any company in the UK. Most of the chain schools are locally owned and operated.
Here's a link to another school that is currently advertising for teachers and that is pretty comparable to the ones you have enquired about:

The word on the street is that the main franchise company for Sesame Street schools, Ladder Publishing is soon to be history if it is not already. I have it from a reliable source that they started paying employees with posted dated pay checks that couldn't be cashed for 3 to 6 months and gave all employees an arbitrary pay cut of 10 to 20%. They way I understand it the reasons behind this were not any financial problems on the part of the company but the executives filling their pockets. As a result most of the smarter more competent people jumped ship and took many of the customers with them. Each major city in Taiwan now has and independent company started by disgruntled employees of ladder.
The end result is a defunct company.
As for Kid Castle, they are no way associated with the Kid's Castle of the UK. The kid Castle in Taiwan is a knock off in name only. |

Thanks for your suggestions.
Brian, youre right about the Alumni Registry. Made me chuckle, too, when I first saw it. Thanks for the Joy link.
Aristotle, aha, that explains why the e-mail that was posted in that ad didnt work. Yikes, I wouldnt want to start off in Taiwan on a bad foot.
Wix, thanks for the Kid Castle (UK associated) site.
However, I still dont have the Kids Castle (Taiwan all the way) site. Anyone?
Thanks.

Wix gave you the correct url for the Kid Castle site: http://personnel.kidcastle.com
Just for the record, Brian is half right as there is no Kid Castle UK. The company in the UK is helping to find teachers for Kid Castle in Taiwan and China, that's all.
As far as I know there is no Kid's Castle as a language school. |

Looks like you made the same mistake as myself Aristotle. The school name is indeed Kid Castle, and not what one may consider the more correct Kid's Castle. Unfortunately the links that you have provided aren't particularly applicable to the search for the website for the school here in Taiwan, but nice try. I know that you have been around for a while, and I have had a go at you on more than one occasion for your views on Taiwan and schools, but I for one appreciate your efforts in seeking info that people require! |

Ah yes, that possessive-plural apostrophe again. For some such a mistake would be allowed but for English teachers......
I hang my head in shame.
