You know, something that I REALLY miss about home? My wife and I always used to go to home & garden shows (exhibitions) and various trade shows. The biggest one in our city was always held in April and went for almost a week. You could see all the latest in new home gadgets, trinkets, pick up a set of a ginzu knives for only $29.99. a miracle mop, and get ideas how to install your own garage, deck, jacuzzi, etc....

Does anyone have any knowledge of any such shows happening in Japan? Anywhere in Japan would be helpful (although I would prefer something in Tokyo or the Kanto area).... If so, any details and information would be helpful to me: eg. name of the show, dates, location, contact person (people), contact information for the organizers or the venue, etc...

I know this is a bit of a long-shot here on Daves, but given that we do have a few long-timers here, I'm hoping someone may know something here....

Please and thank you! Smile

I originally posted this thread on Sep. 6, 2006. It got 115 views and no replies... Which, I have to say, I DID fully expect...

However, I just wanted to resurrect the thread in the off-chance hope that since then someone may have heard or seen something to help answer my question. Any takers?

Whatever info anyone has would be appreciated -- even if the info is in Japanese. I'd do a Google search myself (in Japanese), but my Japanese Google-Fu is still pretty weak. I just don't know what keywords I could use to yield anything substantial.

There was a big garden show at Nagoya Dome a few weeks back (GW maybe) I saw that on the train. Try looking up schedules places like that, exhibition halls etc. I seem to remember a camping and outdoors expo advertised in a magazine so that might be a resource. BTW my Japanese skills are very low so if I can pick up stuff then I'm sure you can.

Click on events calendar, it looks like one you would be interested in comes up in August.

Yes! Thank you, Sherri! That's precisely what I've been after... And Chiba is not only within driving distance for me, I have friends with whom I can stay as well.

I'd kiss you -- but my wife probably wouldn't appreciate that... Wink Nevertheless, you have my thanks for the info!
