Hi
I'm an ESL teacher and have been in the field for more than 13 years. I have an English degree (Toronto) and a TESOL certificate.
I worked for many years in South America as well as in Canada and I will be returning to South America this summer. We are planning to live there for a while and I was thinking of starting an "ENGLISH CAMP".

My idea is to open a camp where the staff is composed of only native speakers. I'd like to create something like an "immerson" camp where all you do, hear, speak, read, and think is in English. It would be catered to intermediate - advanced level students for a chance to practice their English (and learn) in an environment where they will be forced to use their language skills because English would be the only means of communication.

Does this sound realistic to you?

I would love to hear about people that have had any such experiences or have participated in something like this.
If anyone has links that they think would be appropriate for me to read please send them along.

How about the ACA (American Camp Association)? Do you think this would help me in any way?

Any thoughts, ideas, imput would be greatly appreciated.

Very Happy Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Korea is big on summer camps- maybe you can browse that board to get a general flavor for the business. By no means is Kland a typical representation of EFL or summer camps but it still gives a good overview of the business. [And my use of the term business is in no way accidental.]
