Confused Do any of you work in public schools? Will these changes make your life harder, specifically re: licenses?

The House of Representatives on Friday passed three education bills that will give the central government more control over teachers and schools, something experts say will cause the education system to deteriorate.
The bills, backed by the Liberal Democratic Party and junior coalition partner New Komeito, are to make changes to three laws the School Education Law, the local education administration law and the teacher licensing law.

So, this law will not effect us.

You have to be a Japanese citizen to be licensed to work in a public school.

Sure some people have been issused so-called temp licenses, but cant be hired as a fully certified teacher for a public school.

And they say the American school system has problems... O_o

It's pretty incredible to watch history repeat itself. Forming a standing army, moral education in schools... If, in the future, the oil stops flowing and the US doesn't want to share, well, then...

Scary stuff all around.

It could easily mean that central government could restrict money that goes intyo the ALT system. Making sure that each BoE can only use x amount of funds on the system. If this level is set at a low rate then ofcourse it could be important.

This isn't true. If you take the teacher training, at a Japanese university, you can get a license. There are a few foreigners who went to Japanese universities and have done this.
