I'll be going to fukuoka in november from hokkaido and i need to find options for the cheapest hotels or hostels or alternative crash pads. i'm looking at between 2 weeks to a month. any input appreciated. by the way, if you happen to be there and want a short term roommate i can cook and pay rent!
take it easy,

There's a cardboard box near the west side, ginza-dori, between the 7-11 and the strange old man with a beard. It's not the Hilton, but it's cheap.
If the bearded man asks for rent, tell him to f*ck off. |

The cheapest hotels you'll find are around 5000 yen per night. Fukuoka-Now has a searchable database of hotels. Go to: www.fukuoka-now.com
There is also Cybac, a nice internet cafe in Tenjin. Just sign up for a Cybac card (300 yen) and they have an all night (from about midnight to 7 am) deal for around 1200 yen. You will get a private computer room with a comfortable chair, free drinks (non alcohol), a nice bathroom (no showers), and of course, high-speed internet access. Cybac isn't a hotel but I've crashed there a few times after missing the last train.
You can also check out the message board at Rainbow Plaza located in Tenjin (in the IMS Building), directly across from the Nishintetsu Station. Oh, the Fukuoka-Now website also has a forums link where people post various messages and requests. |
