hi I just got offered a job by interac and I start in September. I was wondering if I should accept it? I have heard so many bad reviews for the company and I wasn't sure if I should actually take them into consideration or not? I have heard that interac accepts almost anyone. if so, do they do this because a lot of people quit or do not accept their offer?

No. You shouldn't take it.

You should forget Japan and go back to Uni. You should study computer science or business.

You should watch a movie called 'Primer'.

You should excuse yourself if you belch at the dinner table.

That's it for now. If I think of any other things you should do, I'll let you know.

I guess what southofreality is saying, or giving very strong hints to, is that you should decide for yourself. Surely, you have done searches on this company and have formed your own opinion? Other than that, try to find someone who has worked for interac, because those of us who haven't can't really give you much advice.

Why did you interview for the job then? It's not the best job in Japan. Some people have had good experiences with them, some people haven't. A lot of people accept their offers and a lot of people quit. Flip a coin whether to take the job or not.

For all the slagging of Interac, I still don't understand why GEOS has a better reputation.

I would rather take an Interac job over GEOS.

At least you can do privates working for Interac, and supplement your income nicely, and still have good holidays.

bob_ston,
We are both in the same boat. I also got the job with Interac to start in Sept, but have been apprehensive about taking it due to all the bad press it's been getting. But as of now, I have have no other options for an ALT position, so it looks like I'll bite the bullet and take it. I'm taking solice in the fact that the contract is only until March and so I can hopefully move over to another company (or country) after that if Im not happy with Interac. Maybe I'll see you at the training.

To the OP and degolasse,

It is only a 7 month contract. Take it, try it, see if you like it. If you don't like them or the placement, it is only half a year and you will have completed the contract, your visa will still be valid, and you will have Japanese teaching experience.

There are hundreds of Interac ALTs. Believe it or not, some of them actually renew their contract past the first year. Like any job, there is good and bad. Some will have a good experience, others may not.

Go find out for yourself.

Good luck.
