I have a job offer to work for a well known language school in Warsaw, Poland and to teach a small class of maybe 7-10 adults. I was wondering what I should ask for per hour or 90 min? I figure maybe 150zl? What is the norm? This would be my first teaching experience and they are training me. I do have experience with working one-on -one with adults.

The onus is on them. Presumably you've told them what you can offer them in terms of teaching so now it's their turn to say what they will offer you in return. Use that as a starting point if you want to negotiate.

150 zl eh - good luck.

150 zl is too high?
I charge 50 zl per hour for individual lessons, so a group of 10 should be at least 150. 90 min session ??

I charge 50 - 60 zl for privates and get from 50 - 90 zl for classes (maximum 4 or 5 but it makes not a jot of difference in my work). If you're doing short courses, seminars or specific business English etc. then you can charge a lot more but if it's just run of the mill stuff, forget it.

Well in saying that, you could just go for it! If they're stupid enough to ask...

An employee offers his skills/services and an employer offers pay/benefits. It's a trade and it's up to the employer to state what he's offering. It's simply unprofessional otherwise. I've only ever fallen for it once when asked how much I expected and when I said - 80zl, the reply was - well we pay 60! - Yea, why the f*** did you ask then?

They want to pay me 1zl per min but I think it is peanuts. I have to teach "business English" to a bunch of suits and must wear a coat and nice pants. I think it is not worth the time and money. I can make much more private and get paid direct after session. Only thing I gain is experience and learn many new methods and grammar.

A zloty a minute is about the going rate to be fair. You wont get 150/90 minutes.

Schools do not charge clients on a 'number of students' basis. If you were doing privtes bou would charge on a sliding scale. 50zl indivividual, 40zl for the next member of the group(as an example)

Can you give some details? I've been asked to do a seminar- how do these work and what is expected? The topic is social integration into the U.S. Question

Not being funny here I can't possibly tell you what's expected of your seminar. If you've been asked to do one I suggest you get a clear specification of requirements and negotiate a reasonable wad for your efforts.

If you're asking about pay then I get 120 zl/hour for a training course I do every quarter. Another Dave's poster told me that he can get around 200 zl an hour for Business English seminars. And further up the scale a Polish friend who charges 900 - 2000 zl a day for psychology seminars has asked about the possibility of preparing courses on specific aspects of business related ESL which would be around the same loot.
