I would say that the average job offered on their site is among the poorest paying, most demanding jobs available; only apply if you have no contacts and are somewhat desperate. I've sent a brilliant resume with 15 years experience, 3 degrees yad...yada...to various knuckleheads(Ms. Mary...miss Mary ? Shouldn't that be Ms. Zhou,Li...or how about "Bevis", now that's a real professional name,eh?) and once there all they ask for is a demo...why? They're used to hiring people that....ain't so hot, hence-mistrustful!
You will not live well in Beijing on 3,000-6,000 a month.

Ah but William you are wrong as with a little bit of know how the new generation of English teachers can do okay. And yes as the first link shows it has stated here already with our lot.

Dumpster Divers are people who search for things that other people have thrown out that are still useful, can be recycled, and have value. Dumpster Divers will not only pick up discarded items left at the curbside of people's homes, but they will climb into dumpsters at apartment buildings and behind shopping centers.

However! Most don't actually get in the bins. Most people have some sort of long pole which allows them to just lean over the dumpster and pull the items up to them. People enjoy this hobby. It's like a Treasure Hunt.

If you think about it, at one time or another we've all been lazy and thrown away something that we could have given to Goodwill or recycled. If we've done it, think about the people who don't watch their finances carefully. They are throwing away things right and left!

Dumpster Diving can also be profitable. You can make money with everything from aluminum cans to items that can be resold at garage sales. People have been known to give up their day jobs to do this!

Dumpster Divers, Dumpster Diving Meetups, events, clubs and groups ...Meet other local dumpster divers to discuss techniques for hunting and retrieving garbage gems. One block's trash is another man's treasure.

Dear Mr.Wallace,

After 200+posts about the good old esl days and complaints about the low salaries these days..Is it not time to look around for something else. With a brillant resume of 15 years experience and 3 degrees,yada,yada....you really seem to waste your time here...

No offence meant.just a thought.

You tell him William to stop picking on us old lot!

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Those were the days my friend!
........................................................................................................
Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And dreamed of all the great things we would do

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern
We'd smile at one another and we'd say

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Just tonight I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Through the door there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes, those were the days

Sure, go ahead and provoke me!

That was some class my friend!
........................................................................................................
Once upon a time there was a high school
Where I used to teach a class or two
Remember how I ground away the hours
And forgot all the grammar that I knew

That was some class my friend
I thought it'd never end
I'd sing and dance in my white monkey way
I'd teach just what I'd choose
My notes I'd always lose
For I was young and sure to get my pay.
Ya da da da...
That was some class, oh yes that was some class

Then the busy bus went rushing by me
I lost my brand new mobile on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the staffroom
We'd grunt at one another and we'd say

That was some class my friend
I sat on my rear end
I fell asleep and let the students play
I'd snooze and start to snore
Students snuck out the door
But I was young and sure to get my pay.
Ya da da da...
That was some class, oh yes that was some class

Just today I stood before the lectern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
My voice had a twisted, warped inflection
Was that crazy laowai really me

That was some class my friend
They'd sleep and I'd pretend
That they were looking
In their dictionary
I gave them all straight A's
For staging crap role plays
For I was young and sure to get my pay
Ya da da da...
That was some class, oh yes that was some class

From the WC the sound of heaving
I saw your face was gray and lined with pain
Oh my friend you're still a silly jackass
You said you'd never eat school lunch again

That was some class my friend
They'd bitch and I'd defend
My lack of couth
And methodology
I shut the whole class down
Took bribes and then blew town
For I was young and once more on my way
Ya da da da...
That was some class, oh yes that was some class

Ah, William when you get back home you will find that things have also changed and most likely be back here well before you know it. We, our lot that have gone the distance here in Asia miss the life when we get back home and start living a normal Western life!

Bendan, you're right on the money,man- 3 long frustrating, wasted years,BUT the solution to one of my main problems has been resolved. My wife is doing importing/exporting and selling cars. She'll make(if things go as planned) in a month what I made in a year. Me? I'm planning on selling my coins and antiquities on E-bay when I get home and then take a year off, go to either South America or Europe and do some writing..if it all fails...Korea,Taiwan ?

P.S. Unless I get this management job in Shanghai my friend mentioned.
