Planning to head to Bahrain this weekend from Riyadh. Best I can see, I need to get bus from Riyadh - Dammam. From there is it then straightforward to get a bus to Bahrain? Are there regular connections onwards?

There is a regular service from both Dammam and Khobar to Bahrain.
They have a timetable and stick to it (Well, ..............sometimes !). Not sure about from Dammam but from Khobar the first bus is at 8.00. Last one back from Bahrain is at 20.30. Fare is 50 SR one way.

In case anyone is interested

Dammam - Bahrain departures, 07:15, 10:15, 13:15, 16:15, 19:15
and 21:00

Bahrain - Dammam departures, 07:00, 09:30, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00
and 20:30

Arrival time depends on waiting time at the causeway. Anything between 1 - 4 1/2 hours.

Times from Khobar 45 minutes after Dammam departure times . The office where the buses leave from is downtown at the back of Al-Rahmaniya Mall.

Took the trip to Bahrain yesterday. Taxi over early - before traffic jams on Causeway. Left my bijou residence at 08.00 am. 300 SR for taxi.

Came back by bus. 15.00 was cancelled and then magically transformed into a 16.00 bus. Two and a half hours coming back from downtown Manama to downtown Khobar.
