Be aware
The job currently shows in the China Job listings for Concordia College in Yangzhou, Jiangsu is in fact working with Beijing New Oriental Foreign Language School at Yangzhou. There have been previous threads about BNOFLS so I won't really comment.
Concordia is their affiliated "sister" school, the job is in Yangzhou, at the BNOFLS campus.
Some of the most moronic leaders, employees, and conditions. The students however are ideal.
Just so you are aware. |

hmm, interesting that it isn't run directly by Concordia U. in Moorhead, MN. That university & its summer language camps are very legit & highly rated, quite prestigious. I grew up not far from the town of Moorhead, have friends that went there & always hear highly of their summer language camps, which teach Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, French & other languages. If you speak a language they have a camp for & want to be a camp counselor @ one of their camps in northern Minnesota, I'd highly recommend it. Not sure if there are any openings still, though. Go to the U's web site or google them for more info. |

The ad says the summer camp IS run by Concordia, and the description, terms and conditions sound the same as the one I taught in at Zhuhai in July 2005. The easy way to find out whether it's "really Concordia" or not is to contact the Concordia e-mail address shown in the ad.
If it is Concordia, I would recommend it. The pay is not great - 4000 RMB for two pretty intense weeks - but for someone who wants some experience of China without a long-term commitment, it's a deal. |

I've never heard of Concordia, but -trust me- anything to do with Beijing New Oriental in Yangzhou is going to be a disaster!!
Pretty much anything they turn their hand to is!
While I'm on the subject, I delivered a lecture last week on private education in China to Ministry of Education officials during a brief visit to China. And what better example to use than BNO - everyone's favourite f**k-up! |

And of course BNOFLS at Yangzhou is now advertising with a new ad in the job section .....
This is one place I proactively discourage others from working at ... stories are plentiful ... and I have my own to add and those of others ...
Some people are happy there -- but only those with no self esteem or self worth |
