It isn't really all that cold today, is it? No, I didn't think so. That being the case, could someone then enlighten me as to why � pretty much without exception � the school kids are all wearing thick, navy blue cashmere jumpers? Now, before you say it is as the girls are ridiculously self-conscious and that in HK culture female breasts and undergarments such as bras and the like are deemed satanic, let me point out that this would only account for why they attempt to cover up � it in no way explains why they cover up with thick woollen jumpers (after all, females in the KSA have to cover up, but they somehow manage to achieve this without resorting to donning thick jumpers). Furthermore, as is clear to any casual observer, it is not just the girls who are wearing the jumpers today: it is also the 'lads'.
Would anybody care to try to offer any possible explanations for this peculiar Hong Kong dress-related phenomenon? |
