But if it is a foreign bank you might be charged. Check with your bank.

If you use a foreign bank card most likely you will be charged. EU banks charge about 3-5� per transfer action.

yes youre always charged no matter what bank youre with, they dont do this for charity. but generally the charge is minimal, a few dollars, so it's best to make one larger withdrawal rather than a few smaller ones.

The exception being Nationwide Building Society which has internet banking facilities.

But can you withdraw money through the internet? My Canadian bank has internet facilities that I can use for paying off my credit card or bills from back home but I can't actually withdraw money that way. Still need to withdraw from an atm and it cost money.

With Nationwide you can manage your finances on the internet and use the debit card in ATMs. The card also works for shopping purchases in Turkey.
