I have enough pension to live in Chile without working, I think, but it would be nice to earn a bit extra and give ESL lessons. I have a TEFL.
Is it necessary to get a work visa to do that or are they more mellow? I am just noodling at the moment while I save up enough to go back overseas again. |

You don't need a work visa to work anywhere, in any country, look at how many people are working illegally in your country. There is no real risk in it.
Doing private lessons in Chile you'll have no problems with the authorities...you could even work for a company and just tell them that you have a visa, they won't check...and there are plenty of schools that will hire you without a visa. |

You need to give legal receipts to the people you teach. Most of them will ask you for them, especially schools and companies. |

Receipts or boletos are great to have. Schools and companies will definitely ask for them. You can get around it sometimes. I have never been asked for boletos with classes with individuals who are paying themselves. |
