Dear Fellow Teachers/Instructors,
I'm considering going from a full time to part time contract here in Saudi Arabia and looking at the pros and cons. In particular some of the benefits.
Is anyone else on a part time ESL contract (per class) let me know what to expect in terms of what the labor law says and what is fair for expats.
Looking forward to replies.
Thanks,
Ahmed |

Full time is the norm. I never heard of anyone working "part-time" other than those (including myself) who had a full-time job with one employer and moonlighted with another.
To be legally in the Kingdom you need documentation. I think it unlikely that an employer will get you an Iqama as your sponsor and then have you working for only a few hours a week.
If you are in KSA on your wife's Iqama it is NOT LEGAL for you to work. |

Where I come from, living off a woman's earnings is considered to be immoral. |

Is the idea of going part time yours or the employer's? What are the circumstances for reducing your hours? |
