I'm going to Thailand and would prefer looking for a job when I get there. I've already gotten offers but I've taught abroad before and know that you can get stuck with some pretty crappy schools sometimes if you don't see them first.
Is it possible to get a job teaching in Thailand and get the visa there? or do you HAVE TO let a school apply for your visa while you're in your home country? Thanks!! -Ken |

You can now convert a tourist visa into a Non-Immigrant B visa here in Bangkok.
After you get your Non-B visa, the school can then apply for a work permit;
you can read more in FAQ 2, Part IV of The Master Index Thailand
I agree; it's probably better to do your job hunting from here.
