Is there a difference between online education and distance education?
I looked into many MA courses and they always said it was a distance learning program. Is there a certain snob value against the word "online"? |

I believe there is, in fact, a certain snob value in "distance" rather than "online."
Online seems to imply ephemeral, fly by night, not as good as....in many people's eyes.
But a difference I've seen is that "online" seems to be used by organisations who only do online quals-
Whereas "distance" is used when your qualification will be issued by an actualy university, from which you may be remote...

I think so. No one believes I got an online degree because I accidentally erased it from my Hotmail inbox. |

Yes, the whole idea of "distance" learning is that you are learning while physically located a "distance" away from the university that is teaching the courses. "Online" has to do more with the medium in which the learning takes place. |
