Hey
I am 25, have an MA in History and lots of experience with children and young adults, but am not qualified in TEFL yet. I am planning to do a CELTA in Prague in January 2008 and teach in Hong Kong from February 2008 onwards.
However, I am trying to get some experience of teaching before I leave, and want to give private lessons to people who have recently moved to Inverness from Poland and the Czech Republic, there are massive waiting lists for English lessons at the moment and so I think it'd be a great way of getting some experience as well as making a little extra cash.
Does anyone know how much I should be charging? I thought 12 per hour for one person, 7 per hour for two people and 5 per hour for 3 people seems fair.
Am not sure if I should be following a curriculum or not - what I planned to do was ask prospective students to fill in a needs analysis questionnaire and plan the lessons from there, depending on what their answers are.
The lessons will probably be held in a cafe, twice a week.
Is there anything else I need to think about?! |
