Im heading home to Canada to see my children and have some R & R in August. Its funny that i have to go north to get a tan!
I have a small apartment in San Pedro, good for a single, or a couple to share. Its completely furnished and has all the basic utensils/appliances/ in the kitchen. It is a one bedroom / living room and has an outdoors kitchen with covered patio for dining and relaxing. It also has a very large garden which is really unusual here in CR. lots of banana trees, platineaus, limon and other fruit trees which attract all kinds of birds and butterflies. It is in a safe and quiet area, (as safe as you can get here.....) with a guard right outside the front door. It also includes a TV with cable, telephone (long distance calls extra) and a washer and dryer. Heaven is having an American style shower with a hot water tank and full blast power!!!!
It is about 5 blocks from Ulatina university and a 10 - 15 min. bus ride to central San Jose.
It is walking distance to Mall San Pedro and Plaza del Sol. Pali, Muoz y Nanne and Mas X Mennos the 3 main food shops here.
It will be available from August 6th till Sept. 5th.
It would be a great place to spend a month while you job hunt.
if anyone is interested please pm me or write me at [email protected] (mummy underscore dee)
i will send pics and more information
BUT please note: this is my home, not a party house! Im looking for someone who will respect my space while im gone. Cheers

The students tell me that the closest stop is 5 minutes away at the University of Costa Rica.
I know that during the day the walk is perfectly safe but at night im not so sure. ill have to check further for you
cheers

Doreen,
I'll be heading down to Costa Rica around late AUG or early SEP. Too late to use your place but it sounds really nice. I'd love to find a place like that.
But I wonder if I could afford it. Normally I'd feel too embarrassed to ask a stranger how much they pay for rent. But I'm too curious to pass up this opportunity.
How much does an apartment like that cost? |

San Pedro is, in general, a great deal safer that the places I usually frequent - alone - at nighttime. I'm not female, and I'm big, so I get spared a lot of trouble. ;) |

No hay problema, i should have included it in the first place., i pay 325.00 u.s. per month all utilities except the phone included.
i work a total of 32 hours a week , so this is not problem for me.
San Pedro is safe during the day but at night i take taxis. Walking home from the university at 9 is okay but after that its cabs.
I am a blonde, blue eyed female so i do tend to stand out in the crowd or on the streets.
Common sense keeps us safe
good luck
cheers

Thanks!
Yes. I've been lurking for awhile and I've seen your homestay description. Very informative posts, doreenp. I really appreciate them. |
