I'm wondering if there are consultants who specialize in Chinese visa regulations. No doubt the PSB hires people to give lectures on this topic, and I've been to some. Also, we've had locals at the last company whose job it was to deal with visas. The locals are knowledgeble about visa regulations and have been helpful. But commonly, the regulations and red-tape are so convoluted and fickle. This drives me nuts. Locals do their best to explain, but I usually end up more confused than when I first ask a question. In some cases, I end up explaining what I know about visa regulations to locals! This shouldn't be.

So I'm wondering if expats have set up consulting businesses who know the visa regulations inside and out, and who can explain them well to other expats. Especially expats who have cross-cultural training and can explain the cultural reasons behind the regulations. Also, is there a website posted with a list of FAQs and common problems -> solutions to do with visa regulations?

Thanks a bunch,
Steve

I think the visa regulations are pretty straitforward and not convoluted at all. It's the schools, and more especially the agents that try to cut corners which causes many of us slip up.
Consultants are no better solution. I received some unsolicited service in this regard from a Peking-based office that says they can get "any visa" for expats. How?
I would suggest you look the classified section up in Thats Shanghai or Citylife or some such magazine.
I personally would not recommend any consultant!
