Gee - where did that new topic about CNAQ go? Looking at some of the topics here - on the QP one for example - people mention teaching unmotivated, spoiled students along with coping with incompetent management - sounds remarkably like CNAQ - it must be common in this part of the world!

I would guess that post disappeared as it was too much of a job advert... Since this is an advertising supported site, naturally it prefers not to run free ads on the discussion forum. Laughing

You should probably avoid grouping all Qatar employers or students into one grand stereotype. From what I have read on here, CNA is quite a good gig for Canadians. There are enough posts on QP to keep you reading for hours... mostly bad.

And if you are teaching in a country where the majority of local people will likely never have to work and still be able to live a luxurious life, it is unrealistic to expect a bunch of hard-working, motivated students.

It sure does seem like there are a lot of badly run organizations in Qatar - the pay and benefits are good at CNAQ and it is a Canadian organization managing it - but the Qataris have the final say in most things - so they effectively run it. The college is poorly managed. It looks good from the outside but inside there are many problems.

Now that the former Dean is gone most of us are hopeful that things will change. We have someone replacing her who is very capable of doing a great job.

The work atmosphere has lifted considerably - I would no longer call it toxic.

I am hopeful, but also realistic.
