Hey, I am just wondering how dangerous the place is? IS it really as bad as people make out?

Would anyone reccomend moving their life there or would another city be better?

I went to Naples and surrounding areas many times while living in Italy a few years ago and never once had an unpleasant experience. I'm sure it is just like any other big city- some areas are safer than others. However, in my opinion, a lot of what you hear is simply stereotype. I never got ripped off in a store, taxi, etc.; never felt threatened on the street (granted, I was never alone); never saw any "gangster movie" scenes. On the other hand, my purse got snatched three times in Milan!
