Hello Friends,

Does anyone have any experience with either the Beijing Huijia Private School

or the Institute of Economic Management

I found some info through a search for Beijing Huijia but they seem fairly mixed. Does anyone have somthing to add??? Here's the thing, I would be living in Beijing with my girlfriend, and I hear its a pretty far commute. Is this impossible?

I haven't been able to find anything for the institute of economic management.

I'm curious what salary did they offer you at Huijia?

Someone 12 months ago posted a contract with a 3 page appendix to the normal contract that looked like the US Army operated the school.

Many rules and regulations with fines for infractions.

The ones I remember are the fines for parking your bicycle the wrong way and eating your food in the cafeteria with your mouth open or making too much noise.

It would be interesting to see if they still enforce these laws or not.

I've heard their salaries are dropping with longer hours and more duties.

(This is common for Beijing anyway and will be getting worse)

I'm interested in the latest info from that school too.

I interviewed with Huija's IB program a year ago. It is really in the sticks and hard to get too. If you are going to live in Beijing you will have a long commute. They were only ofering 8000 to teach economics and you were expeced to say in the office all day and be available in the evenings for tutorials. Needless to say they had to find someone else. It is definately run like a military training base - you even need to go through a gatehouse and exchange id for a pass to enter the campus. The other school I have never heard of.

I believe that I asked these very same questions in the past about at least one of these schools...

If my memory serves me correctly (and it may not), our kind poster CJ750 had a great deal of information about this school (again I may be wrong).

As a previous poster wrote, the results of my own due diligence were that this school had a very, very, very mixed reputation -- more minus, than plus.

CJ750, am I mixing this up with another school -- that's possible....

The salary can say so much, so if it's 8,000 RMB it's not very inspiring.

I'm sure you're trying to get some personal feedback from former teachers and that's what Dave's is all about. But here are some webpages that I easily googled so you might give a read to get a better understanding - - keeping in mind that school web pages are to "sell" the school so you won't find any negatives there.

hi, they originally offered me 10000 in the original package (at Huijia) , but then it went down to 8000 for some reason Confused i wouldn't accept anything lower than 10000 esp considering all the things people have said.

i'm still waiting to hear something about the Beijing Institute of economic management from people who've had experiences there

thanks for all the info so far

There is no salary high enough to induce me to work at Huijia Private School.

A copy of their employment Contract was posted on this board in May 2006.

I can not understand why anyone would be foolish enough to accept a teaching position with this institution!

The demands outlined in their employment contract are draconian and unprofessional.

Apparently, the campus is located around 1 hour from downtown Beijing.

Working there under the conditions detailed in their Contract would be an exercise in frustration and unhappiness.

However, that said, the institution must have foreign teachers working there now - and presumably accepting/enduring these abysmal conditions!

I was offered a teaching position there for next semester, but rejected their offer. I would never be so desperate for a teaching job to accept a position in such an unreasonable institution.

I am not familiar with the Institue for Economic Management that you also asked for information about.

the reason I dont approve of blacklist is they often fail to reconize a change in management and that a location can get better or that it is a one on one arrangement that can change from one to the other..that said...a more current review woud be needed before being absolutly positive as to a rejection of this work unit..although..no one and I mean no one should take employment on the outskirts of Beijing...the transpoortation will leave you desolate...and the current decrease in pay over the last two years leaves a 10 K job looking quite unattractive.. Telfort workers have complaned to me in the past that they are only paid 8k required to work most of the day and have to wear suits...plus pay their rent ..for company arranged housing...just not worth it...I would vote to trun this one down...
