Does anyone have any information about this school? I am considering taking a Cambridge CELTA course there in Feb. '06 and wondered if anyone else has studied there or has any info. Thanks. |

Did CELTA there in January this year. Pretty good course: the interesting thing for the guys who didn't speak Bulgarian was to see them in an environment where they had problems with the local language.
Was there anything specific you wanted to ask about? |

Did my Celta there 2 years ago. Was best thing Ive ever done. (Might be the fact that i met my bulgarian fiancee there!) I strongly reccommend doing celta in feb rather than summer - otherwise ur teaching in 35 degree plus heat with no air conditioning.
it's basic facilities but thats good makes u learn more about teaching.. and if u want to stick around u might well get a job offer chat afterwards..
also sofia is cheap, nice country, eat and drink out any time of the day culture. when i was there's avo's celta price was very good, and now u have start of cheap airlines to bulgaria (check out wizzair.com - i think), wheras when i went there it cost me 179pounds return. (or u could if you're feeling adventurous cheap fligh to prague, bratislava or budapest and train down thru serbia.....lol)
whilst ur there check out pastry called 'banitsa' from any bakery shop. mmm
good luck, if can help with anything else let me know |

Dear Hellohowareyou,
Having read your reply about the school of AVO-3, Bell School of English I would like to ask you a few questions concerning student accomodation standards. I, myself, am starting a CELTA course in November, 2007 and would like to find out how many people do they accomodate in one apartment? Is it like a few people stay in one room or is every room allocated for each person? Are there internet clubs nearby? Is the internet provided in the school library?
I look forward to hearing from you,
Stardoll |

Thanks for your faith in me, john, but I don't know this particular school. Stardoll, you need to ask them directly to describe their accomodations. I expect that they will be very basic by western standards, but clean and safe at the least.
I've some good friends from Sofia and I think it's a good city to spend some time in. Quite a lot stronger traditions of hospitality there than in some other parts of Europe, for example.
Where's scot47? He knows the area, I think. |

I have been based in Bulgaria for a long time. Gave up the struggle to survive on a teacher's salary there though. Not into poverty. |
