Hi there
I have recently gained a CELTA certificate and I am looking for work in language schools in the city of Gerona or one of the coastal towns on the Costa Brava. What is the best way to get a list of language schools in this area so that I can e mail them my CV?
Thanks! |

Girona also has it's own LoQuo site at: http://girona.loquo.com/ You can look for vacancies in the JOBS section, as well as place your own advert offering to teach private classes in the CLASSES section.
You should also check out the Barcelona LoQuo because some of the schools in the towns between here and Girona place adverts in the Barcelona LoQuo. http://www.loquo.com/
Are you looking for work starting now are in Sept/Oct? Because if you want work now, you would have a better chance finding work teaching in a summer camp, although the number of camps around here may be limited and/or already staffed. However, some camp directors wait until the last minute, plus sometimes teachers don't show up, get fired, break bones or just get tired of the kids and quit early, which can lead to the need for replacements.
In case you might be interested, there's a camp director I know of who is looking for two English teachers now. (And a French teacher, in case you know one!) The camp is in the mountains near Palencia, which is a town northwest of Madrid, located between Burgos and Valladolid. The teacher work 4 hours a day and then have the rest of the day free. The pay is 750 euros gross, plus he provides room and board. You can email him (he's a priest names Padre Javier) at [email protected] or call him on 606 145 045.
If you want to see exactly what he told me, he gave me permission to post the email he sent me on my blog, which I have done. It's at: http://spaintheblog.blogspot.com/2007/07/two-english-teachers-one-french-teacher.html
I've known teachers who worked there in the past and although the pay wasn't great, they seemed to enjoy the experience.

Thanks for the replies. They will give me something to get started on. I am looking for work beginning September. My partner is a PE teacher and has just had an interview for a bilingual school in Girona. If he is successful, I am looking to join him but being a Spanish teacher here in Britian, there is little chance of me finding work in a school such as this! I finished my CELTA qualification in March so hope this will help me in my search for work. Although I have 11 years teaching experience teaching Spanish, I am worried that it will be difficult to obtain work in Girona as I have no academy experience teaching English. Fingers crossed someone will give me a chance! |
