Because all I can get are contacts from "famous" recruiters or organizations that everyone here keeps putting down...but I can't find anything else. Where are you all working ?? You all seem to have found the perfect deal and I wonder how to get the same !
I'm desperate : it's October and there's nothing... What about giving an actual list of schools/contacts that can be trusted ??
It's just a thought... thanks !

Every job has its ups and downs, mine included. Most of us are happy if there are quite a few more positives than negatives.
More details please: type of teaching and location prefered, salary, your teaching history. Then you might get some leads.

Hello,
I am aware that every job has its negatives points as well. The problem is that we're a couple so we need 2 positions in the same city. I wish I could teach French coz that's my job but ESL would be fine. We taught last year in Luoyang. We're looking for adults/students/high school.
Our choice of location is Suzhou first then anything that's closed to a big city !
We'd like to work about 20hrs/week for about 7000 yuan. Accomodation provided.
That's all ! Unfortunately it's getting late and there aren't many postings anymore. We're a bit down coz my fiance will be kicked out of France at the end of the month !
Anyone that knows of a good school, please let me know. Thanks

I used to peddle my talents making my rounds from school to school, and I found that it works, and sometimes it does not work. They like to keep you on hold. Public schools are never in a hurry to hire for the next term. They take you on boared if they have an urgently-to-be-filled vacancy. If not, they listen to you, but do not commit themselves.
Hirers are not any more reliable, of course, but at least they usually have some position when you need it.
Unfortunately, many principals and schools themselves get involved in underhanded activities supplying expat teachers to other schools.
But, well, you are not losing anything if you accept their service - the taker pays, not you. The taker has to pay a substantial amount of dough to the agent, and perhaps he will take it out on you by cutting your perks or even your salary.
Some schools pay 10'000, some apparently more. Other collect less, but who knows - no one is going to tell YOU.

There are still a lot of jobs advertised on www.thatsshanghai.com and www.expatsh.com They may or may not be any good, so you'd have to take a chance. Something short term would give you time to check out the unis. for next year, though few would pay 7k. There's plenty of work around, but the "good school" type jobs have been snapped up. Suzhou and other hamlets often have postings listed on these sites too. Shanghai is probably your best chance of teaching French too.
