hi, i have been to the forum a lot when i taught in mexico and when i thought about going to asia. i was an efl teacher for a while and now i'm back to my original profession (social work).
i just came here to ask questions for my son, age 20. he's heading off to mexico by bus. he's a college student and will get college credit for taking two weeks of spanish classes through a school (at least 20 hours a week). he has gone on the internet and found Habla Hispana in San Miguel de Allende. He knows basically no spanish. his other reason for coming to mexico is to spend two months soul searching to see if he is really ready to get married (i know he's young). he and his girlfriend are talking about getting married in a year when they graduate and get jobs.
any related information would be appreciated. i want him to have a good experience. he plans to do the home stay through the school for those two weeks, but he will still have almost two months to explore mexico. he gets additional college credit for an independent study that i don't know enough about to explain. he is a sociology/theology major who plans to be a youth minister for a church at first and then get either a seminary degree or a degree like mine (masters in social work). |
