Hi,
I've been offered an apartment, fully serviced with computers, high speed net, sat tv etc for 44$US for two people in Istanbul, is that an Ok price or is that expensive?
Will be there for 8 - 12 weeks only, so just need short term accomodation.

Thanks heaps

It depends where it is and what it is.

If it's a shoebox out in the sticks ... then certainly not. But if it's a 2+1 nicely-decorated, tastefully-furnished, well-located flat in a nice building ... possibly. And if it's a small furnished flat overlooking the Bosphorous in Arnavutkoy or Bebek ... yes.

It's part of the CBD. Three stops on the metro from the central entertainment district. It could be super lux or it could be shanty town. If you are on the main road it will be noisy(I am here now and can here the traffic.) I am in this area every day(all day sometimes). If you have a street name I could let you know.

Ask for some photos of the apartment and apartment building. Get them to give you specific details of where it is, and we might be able to help you a bit better. The Esentepe side of Gayrettepe is lovely. Let's hope it is there.

Yidiz Posta Cad. is a main road. However, the houses are quite far back from the road. Houses look alright from the outside. Never been in one though. It's more Dikiltas on the way to Besiktas area. metro is a bit of a walk but loads of buses to everywhere. A taxi to Taksim at day rate would be around 12 ytl.

Just to add lovetowander if you decide to take this apt. delete the address. You do know that certain posters here are stalkers known to the police. I wont mention any names that would be naughty

Hey, I've never stalked anyone! And I know where you live, so you'd better be careful. You don't want to end up like baba...

I also live in the Esentepe area five minutes from the Gayrep. metro stop near Maya center. If you need info on the area I can advise. Thanks

Hey, you escaped the boondocks, Caterina! Congratulations. Now that you live really close to FSEM, have they roped you into working there?

Even if they did, it's gotta be better than living out here in the netherworld...
