|
|
Sorry if this has already been asked/discussed -- my computer won't let me search for some reason.
Ok, so it seems like all the job listings on this website and others are overwhelmingly for private, (generally) sketchy schools. Is there a different place where public schools advertise? I'm hoping to teach either at a public high school or university (preferably a university). I've sent out some e-mails to universities, but that seems kind of like a crap-shoot, especially since it can be hard (if not impossible) to find the right email address to send a resume to. I would love to just go and find a job once I get there, but unfortunately I probably won't be able to make it to China very long before the semester begins. So, does anyone have any tips besides scouring *every* schools' website for email addresses? Where are these darn public schools advertising??? |

try helen's chinatefl network. they advertise mostly public universities, but also some private schools. i've had good luck with the three jobs i've found on there, and so have some others here. lots of info on each of the schools there.
cant open the webpage right now and not sure why.... chinatefl.com
by the way, you can contact the schools directly from that website. they dont act as a middleman or recruiter for those schools. |

Most public schools tend to deal through recruitment companies. There are various reasons for this but one of them is likely the lack of anyone at the school with adequate English ability to be vetting applicants. Schools that do hire directly will generally rope their most senior English teacher into the role with mixed results.
In addition to the site that 7696 has listed above is www.buxiban.com the site that I am involved with. |

Though I have been fortunate to find my jobs on my own, I know others who have successfully used www.anesl.com (Angelina's) recruitment services. They deal with many public schools and universities in most provinces of China.
I have heard they are very good, but sometimes slow in getting back to you. I also know they have people stateside to work with as well.
