Does anyone know where I could work out for a few days at a cheap gym in Taipei near Taipei Main Station or the surrounding area? California Fitness and similar gyms are 500NT/day, that's really expensive. I'm only going to be in Taipei for a few days next weekend. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

are you staying in a hotel? does the hotel have a weight room available? you could also try at a university?

I am staying at a hotel, but it doesn't have a gym or anything like that.

hmmm....sorry, i cant think of anything to suggest here....i know that in my gym they charge $600 a day for non-members to use the facilities, so $500 isnt too bad...

you can try www.forumosa.com there are a lot of Taipei residents who post regularly on there, and they may be able to help you our more than the folks here can

You can try the various sports centers. The closest one to the Taipei Main Station area is the Zhongshan Sports Center. They have a weight room with free weights as well as circuit training machines, plenty of treadmills, elliptical machines, and a pool (although it always seems to be crowded).

The cost is only NT$50 per hour (for the weight room) and they open at 7:00 am. They also have shower facilities.
