hello, good people!
this is my first post to dave's ESL forum, and though i mainly lurk around in the UAE forum, i have a question regarding qatar. specifically, the weill cornell medical college in qatar.
my wife has applied for an academic position at the college and, if hired, would like to know:
1) is anyone is familiar with the accomodation typically offered to married couples? the area? proximity to campus? villa or apartment?
2) does anyone know if health insurance is a standard component of the employment package. annual salary and transportation benefits have been clearly spelled out; no real mention of health insurance, however. these are just a couple of lingering questions we had.
thanks in advance. the information i've reaped regarding middle east living via the users of this site over the last few months has been nothing short of invaluable and i'm grateful to have found such a fantastic -- and educational -- resource.

It varies as people come and go. What you need to do is find out exactly where they plan to put you, and then post the name of the place here. I think it's safe to say that you will be comfortable, but you will experience a few disappointments (maintenance, delays, etc.) along the way; that's the way things usually work. If they put you into the new QF accommodation you will be very close to campus; otherwise, you can expect a commute that will take some getting used to.

I don't know because I don't work for WCMC-Q, but global health insurance is standard for QF employees. Why the mystery? They should be forthcoming about this. It should be stated in the contract. |

| I know very little about WCMC but from what I have heard conditions are very good compared to other places here in Qatar....as BD mentioned health insurance is standard and part of the contract...ask them Qs RE this and they should get back to you....good luck with it all |

Since this is a not a large employer, I'd say that your best source for these two questions is the employer.
