A happy 4th to you as well. If all goes well in Japan it'll be my last 4th in America in a long time. I wish I was doing something extra special for it... but I'm not. Crying or Very sad

It`s my favorite day of the year. My hometown has a fantastic parade that`s kicked off with a fly over. The parade has tons of great entries and trails through downtown, eventually ending up in a huge and gorgeous park at the base of some mountains. There, people sell their wares, families have picnics, and the Declaration of Independence is read by a popular local actor. The day ends with fireworks on the other side of town. Wish I were there.

Happy Fourth, everyone!

I'm going to get drunk in downtown Portland, go to the blues festival, and then watch some great fireworks over the Willamette. Happy 4th.

You had to say that, didn't you? I haven't been back there (home) in two years. If you get a chance, head over to Edgefield McMenamin's in Troutdale; It's one of the best places for summer drinking in the Portland area. Or the US, for that matter.

I've never been to Oregon, but I've heard very good things about it. I actually have a friend who is considering moving there (Portland) in the near future.

I was down at Coney Island, Brooklyn, NYC yesterday to watch the Nathan's Famous hot dog eating contest.

KOBAYASHI-SAN! TSUNAMI!

The pageantry was spectacular! The crowds (50,000?!?!) gathered. Rumors were tossed around. World records were set!

And in the end, Joey Chestnut defeated the mighty six-time world champion TAKERU KOBAYASHI (of Nagoya?) making it one for the ages.

Delightful. There's nothing greater than watching two grown men stuff 63+ hot dogs down their throats in 12 minutes. A classical culinary experience.

BTW, who's going to sign on to be KOBAYASHI'S personal English tutor?

Cool Cool Cool

Regards,
fat_c

I'd be more satisfied with Chestnut defeating Kobayashi in a sushi eating contest in Tokyo...
